What is cellulose?

Cellulose first appeared on earth together with the first plant, long before humans.

Together with other substances, cellulose is part of vegetal cells and gives plants mechanical strength and elasticity. Cellulose molecules are built with long glucose molecules tied with each other, forming long chains.

The purest form of cellulose is found in cotton buds and can be extracted by removing the seeds and washing the buds.

Cellulose is around half of the composition of any tree. Extracting it from wood is a complex process and it includes separation from the other elements and bringing it . to an almost pure state.
